A Schoolhouse Clock is a type of wooden wall clock that has a traditional dial with a trunk extension that houses a pendulum. The pendulum usually is accessed through a glass window or door allowing for adjustments. Many names are often applied to this type of clock, depending on the length of the trunk and shape of the case, but most commonly it was called a Schoolhouse Clock.  It is said to be a truly Early American Design. This style was most commonly found on classroom walls in American Colonial days, in post offices and saloons.

Schoolhouse clocks are keywound or battery operated. Some clocks are radio controlled, the clock sets itself, time is adjusted automatically based on the signal received from WWVB station Fort Collins Colorado covering the continental United States and most of Canada.
